Second Floor
The Entry
I used faux finishing techinques to make the floor look like inlay stone. The major part is painted to look like a
granite, the inlay design I painted to look like black marble and soap stone.
The Tea Room
I again used faux finishing on the floor and also
marblized the fireplace. I may have gone a bit
overboard with the marblizing in this house (probably
a result of watching too much Christopher Lowell). The
table was my first attempt at draping fabric. I arranged
the centerpiece using both Fimo flowers and real dried
flowers. I love huge flower arrangements both in
miniature and in real life. I made the black and gold
wainscoting because I couldn't find one that would suit
this room.
The Living Room
This is my favorite room, probably because of the beautiful Bespaq piano. I got a great deal on it at the Petite
Elite in Los Angeles, which, quite sadly, is now closed (the shop, not the city). I made all of the window treatments
for the house because I wanted the fabric to look flowing in stead of looking like stiff pleats. After trashing about
five of them, I started to get the hang of it. I was then forced to make pillows that would match (you can see a few
of them on the Bespaq settee). I added a single column to this room to keep it from looking too boxy. The shaft is
just a wood dowel that I covered with Flex-all and then antiqued. The top and bottom of the column are made by
Unique Miniatures.
